SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is a process by which a website can receive an organic boost on the search engine result page (SERP), and ultimately drive traffic to the site.

Top ranking on Google can increase the influx of traffic to your website, resulting in more user interactions and generating leads and sales in the process.

To ensure that yourdomain.com rank well on Google and other search engines, here are strategies that I'll employ to ensure that the company gets the best possible ROI from SEO.

Please note: the strategies contain here are not to guarantee an automatic #1 spot for any of your pages.

An Ethical SEO requires an investment of time. And it may take between 8 - 11 weeks before the results come up.

This is because a new site may be subjected to a Sandbox algorithm, which can initially prevent it from ranking organically.

Plus, the fact that domain age is a signal to ranking on the SERP.

However, with proper implementation, results are inevitable.

Here are what we’ll do to rank your brand new website:

1. Performing Keyword Research

Keyword research is all about finding information online. There are keywords users are using to find information, ask questions or search for products and services.

To attract potential buyers to your new site, we'll research the keywords that people are using to search for the same products and/or services you offer.

Build a list of the keywords based on intents and strategically place them in the product's title, description and in promotional and informative content.

Part of the keywords will be used to build put the site in a silo structure for the benefit of users and the search engines.

Because there’s a good chance people will use the same Keywords to find your new website.

And the only way to attract potential buyers is by including the keywords they search for on the site.

To do keyword research, there are a handful of tools, but we use one of the best tools in the market, which is Rank Tracker. and SEMrush

Optimizing On-Page Elements

For a newly launched website, the main SEO marketing focus is the on-page elements, which include:

  • Title tags,
  • URLs
  • Headers,
  • Meta descriptions, and
  • Body content.

These components of the website will involve optimizing with relevant keywords and strategically placing them - without stuffing the body of the content.

In addition to pleasing search engines, user experience optimization will be a top priority.

UX is a strong signal on major search engines such as Google and Bing and it ensures users can navigate easily across your site easily.

Creating quality content

Content is KING. And from optimizing the site's copy - products' title and description to informative and promotional content, a top page ranking can be achieved in a short time.

The more in-depth and relevant the content published on your website, the greater the chances of ranking higher.

Make Mobile Compatibility a Priority

This will be an important area that we'll ensure does not limit the ability of the site from ranking as quickly as possible.

Because, since Google announced that mobile compatibility would begin to affect the rankings in April 2015, many sites have been affected.

New sites take longer to rank and older sites see their rankings dropping.

Creating an XML Sitemap/Submitting to Search Engines.

Although submitting a sitemap is not necessary as Google will always discover a website when it crawls the web.

But for a brand new website, like yours, it becomes Important as there are no existing crawl paths to discover the web pages.

Optimizing for speed (desktop and mobile)

Speed is an important ranking factor.

And with a mobile-first indexing approach... that Google uses to rank pages on mobile, optimizing the loading time will be part of the top priority when trying to make your site search-friendly.

We'll ensure your site load fast both on desktop and more importantly, mobile devices.

And this will be obvious once completed and you can test with tools like Page Speed Insight and GTMetrix.

Creating Internal Linking

Internal linking of web pages is a helpful way to boost your site's ranking.

Internal link building is helpful for search engines to crawl and deep-crawl all pages of your website - even without having a robots.txt file at the root directory.

And the benefits are not only for search engines. It also ensures that visitors can easily navigate your website through to conversion.

Internal linking is part of on-page SEO and must be done right before going for backlinks (external link building).

Now with all these on-page optimizations, once the on-site SEO is put up properly, then we can start looking into off-page SEO.

Creating an off-page SEO strategy

The best off-page SEO practices are the one that focuses on:

  • Quality link building
  • Social media optimization (SMO)
  • Local SEO

And it doesn't have to be 100 per cent before your site goes live.

There are some basic things that can establish and augment on-page optimization in order to boost the rankings.

The following steps kickstart the off-page SEO adventure.

Building a Social Media presence and optimizing it along your website

Social media is an online listening portal for businesses that understand and are ready to leverage the power it brings to both start-ups and established brands.

It's the first "free backlinks" source anyone can build into his or her website.

And these days…

it's no longer an option but a means to gain maximum exposure. Social signal is important on Bing.

And on Google, it's gradually playing a role even though they've not explicitly stated it's a ranking factor.

Social media may not directly affect SEO, but it does increase exposure, drive traffic and increase conversion.

Developing a strategy for local SEO

Local SEO is optimizing for local stores/businesses.

This involves:

Map optimization is the first thing immediately after creating and registering on google my business (GMB). Or Bing Places Portal.

In local SEO, creating an account is not just enough but the consistency - of and in the - information provided will help a new website - like yours to rank higher for searches like:

"Solar energy product/service near me"

...assuming you provide solar energy facilities or equipment.

The information must therefore be consistent with the Contact Us Page on your site, and other third parties (local directories) sites across the web.

That said…the next will be to build CITATIONS from local directories.

Citations, reviews and distance between searchers and the business location are the most important factors to rank locally.

Study competitors and "steal" their strategies

There's no point reinventing the wheel. Chances are your competitors have laid down a strategy that we can steal and build upon to outrank them.

Here, it's all about creativity and that's why I put it last.

When it comes to link building opportunities, competitors' backlink profile information is a great way to start.

And there are tools that'll reveal the activities of your competitors.

Checking from time to time what the competitors are up to, reviewing their backlinks profiles, and choice of Keywords including their top-performing content on the SERP are methods of competing and ultimately outranking competitors.

SEO is a long term strategy and building links to the site is something that one has to continue to do.

By gaining new links every month, the Domain Authority (DA) and Page Authority (PA) will increase, and thereby improve your site's ranking.

A backlink from a top Authority site is like a vote of trust and can improve the domain score and PageRank.

The consistency of information, both on and off the page will signal:

  • Expertise
  • Authority
  • Trustworthiness

...Which are used by Google's Quality Raters as guidelines for rating individual websites.

In summary

Ranking a new site can take a lot of time and effort. But it's worth it.

Ask me why?

We've achieved many positive results than not believe it.

SEO best practices will only get a website's rankings on track because there are many factors that a new site can not catch up with at first; such as domain age factors. And backlink profile strength.

Plus the fact that Google put every new site on the "Sandbox" algorithm... is another reason why SEO best practices must be implemented at the start of the campaign.

With this set of strategies, we’re confident that your site will begin to rank for its primary keywords within the first few months.
